Advantages of ClariVein Over Other Therapies
RF or Endovenous Laser Ablation
For decades, the primary treatments for varicose veins were invasive techniques such as vein stripping and later on less invasive procedures such as Endovenous Laser Ablation and Radio Frequency Ablation. As medicine and technology have advanced, however, the treatments for varicose veins have also advanced. One of the newest methods of treating varicose veins is ClariVein, a form of Mechanical Occlusion Chemically Assisted therapy, or MOCA. While older therapies are still available and still used, ClariVein has several advantages that might make it the better option for you. Read on to learn more about this innovative treatment and its benefit
Less Risk of Damage
ClariVein is considerably less invasive than potentially damaging methods such as vein stripping. Also methods that use such high levels of heat like laser and radio frequency therapies have a greater risk of also causing trauma, which is what causes the side effects such as pain, bruising or even nerve damage. Vein stripping is even more invasive, requiring an incision in your groin through which the doctor ties off the vein, and then threads a tool through the vein to pull it through another incision in your calf. This method has an increased risk of bruising, swelling and infection. By contrast, ClariVein is a gentle treatment although still effective in eliminating even the most unsightly veins. ClariVein uses mechanical agitation of the vein’s lining, followed by the injection of a solution to permanently close the vein. All of this is done through a single pin-sized incision in the lower leg.
The ClariVein procedure is a simpler and faster vein treatment option and studies have shown up to 74% less pain than other minimally-invasive peripheral vascular treatments. Because no thermal energy is used, there is no need for the multiple needle-stick injections of anesthesia (pain-numbing) mediation along the length of the treated area. This shortens the time the procedure takes, reduces pain and discomfort, and also eliminates bruising.
Quicker Procedure and Shorter Recovery Time
For many patients, less downtime is one of the major advantages of ClariVein over other procedures. You can resume your normal activities more quickly than with other therapies. This means less time off of work and the ability to go back to your everyday routine the very next day or even the same day. Also, unlike vein stripping, ClariVein does not require the use of general anesthesia in the operating room, which means it can be performed in an out-patient setting such as in your physician’s office. Also in compare to Laser and Radio Frequency there is no need for the injection of tumescent (pain-numbing) along the length of the treated area. This results in a much quicker procedure and since no heat is involved it results in a shorter recovery time. Your doctor will still advise you to take it somewhat easy for a couple of weeks, as in no heavy lifting, but staying active with light exercise is encouraged.
ClariVein is newer and less invasive than older procedures. It is just as, if not more, effective and has excellent clinical results. More and more insurances are recognizing and covering this procedure. Results are often visible immediately. In fact, Alpha Vein Clinic’s own Dr. Sassan Kaveh is one of the only doctors in Nevada trained to use the ClariVein procedure. If you’re looking for expertise in vein-related disorders, as well as in using this innovative new vein therapy, Alpha Vein Clinic is just the place for you.
