7 MYTHS OF VARICOSE VEINS!
Myth #1: Crossing your legs causes varicose veins:
Crossing legs does not cause varicose veins. Neither does wearing tight shoes or tight pants – although these things can exacerbate varicose veins if you already have them.
While increased pressure can cause blood to pool inside a vein and make the vein bulge, it’s not external pressure that does it. It’s the defective valves in your veins or weakened vein walls that causes varicose veins.
Myth #2: Varicose Veins Are an Inevitable Sign of Aging:
Aging definitely worsens varicose veins, though not everyone gets them. It is a degenerative process that gets worse and is more likely to happen as we age. However young people can get varicose veins. While the average age of patients treated for veins is around 52 years of age, Varicose veins have been treated on many just beginning in there teen years. If you do have varicose veins, it may run in your family. The cause of varicose veins is mostly genetic.
Myth #3: Treatment for varicose veins is very costly and painful:
Here at the Alpha Vein Clinic, we have been helping patients who suffer from varicose veins and other vein conditions. And we are here to tell you that the treatment of veins is neither overly expensive, nor painful.
First of all, many of our varicose vein treatments are covered by insurance, due to the fact that they are not purely cosmetic. The treatments themselves are not painful, and the Alpha Vein Clinic will take you through every step of the way. Recovery is typically quick and patients are able to recover in no time.
Myth #4: There is no point in treating my varicose veins, because they will just come back:
While this statement may be true in some cases, the recurrence rate is too low. The three advanced ways in terms of ridding of diseased veins comes in the form of the endovenous Radiofrequency thermal ablation treatment, Clarivein occlusion and Venaseal. These therapies work beyond the symptoms of varicose veins, and get into fixing the problems that caused the veins in the first place. These procedures are pretty un invasive. Patients can have recovery in just a few hours in most cases and that recovery lasts. With RFA or Clarivein treatment and Venseal, the majority of our patients do not need to return for treatment again in most cases here at the Alpha Vein Clinic Las Vegas.
Myth #5: Exercise will make varicose veins worse:
Exercise is not only good for you and your health it is also good for your vein health. Most exercises causes your calf muscles to pump more blood to your heart, which helps immensely with your circulation.
If you have undergone treatment for your veins, it is a great idea to throw on some compression socks before heading out for a run or to the gym. That will help keep the blood from pooling in your legs. (The stockings need to be prescribed by your doctor)
Myth #6:Varicose Veins Are Strictly a Women’s Issue:
While varicose veins are more common in women, men get them, too. About one-quarter of adult women have some visible varicose veins, compared to 10 to 15 percent of men.
Myth #7: Surgery Is Your Only Treatment Option:
