SIGNS OF VEIN PROBLEMS

There are many signs and symptoms of vein problems. However today we are going to address a few of them and talk about what you can do to treat the underlying cause of your leg and vein pain. Here at the Alpha Vein Clinic Las Vegas we specialize in making your leg and vein pain a thing of the past.

Symptoms of venous insufficiency include:

  • swelling of the legs or ankles (edema)
  • pain that gets worse when you stand and gets better when you raise your legs
  • leg cramps
  • aching, throbbing, or a feeling of heaviness in your legs
  • itchy legs
  • weak legs
  • thickening of the skin on your legs or ankles
  • skin that is changing color, especially around the ankles
  • leg ulcers
  • varicose veins
  • a feeling of tightness in your calves
  • Spider veins

How is venous insufficiency diagnosed?

We will want to do a physical examination here in Las Vegas at the Alpha Vein Clinic and we will also take a complete medical history to figure out if you have venous insufficiency. They may also order some imaging tests to pinpoint the source of the problem. These tests may include a duplex ultrasound.

Duplex ultrasound:

A type of test called a duplex ultrasound may be used to test the speed and direction of blood flow in the veins. We will place some gel on the skin and then press a small hand-held device (transducer) against your skin. The transducer uses sound waves that bounce back to a computer and produce the images of blood flow.

Improving blood flow:

Some tips to improve your blood flow include:

  • Keep your legs elevated whenever possible.
  • Wear compression stockings to apply pressure to your lower legs.
  • Keep your legs uncrossed when seated.
  • Exercise regularly.

When to see a doctor?

Self-care — such as exercise, elevating your legs or wearing compression stockings — can help you ease the pain of varicose veins and may prevent them from getting worse. But if you’re concerned about how your veins look and feel and self-care measures haven’t stopped your condition from getting worse, you should come see us here at the Alpha Vein Clinic Las Vegas as soon as possible if you have experienced any symptoms or signs that you may have a vein problem. It is better to get the answers then never have asked the question. Call us today at (702) 430 7661. We are confident that we will have the best solution to all your vein problems.
