Spider Vein Removals at Alpha Vein Clinic!

What are Spider Veins?

Spider veins (also called telangiectasias) are clusters of tiny blood vessels that develop close to the surface of the skin. They are often red, blue, or purple; and they have the appearance of a spider web. They are commonly found on the face and legs.

What Causes Spider Veins?

Spider veins and varicose veins are caused by structural abnormalities of blood vessels. Veins carry blood back to the heart from other parts of the body. They utilize a series of one-way valves to avoid backflow of blood. For a variety of reasons, these valves can become defective, allowing the backflow of blood within veins. The subsequent pooling of blood and pressure increase within the vein, and weakens the blood vessel wall. Spider veins and varicose veins then develop from the engorgement and dilation of the affected blood vessels.

How to prevent Spider Veins:

  • avoid prolonged sitting or standing
  • elevate your legs when resting

Treatment: Sclerotherapy

At Alpha Vein Clinic in Las Vegas,we use Radiofrequency Ablation  or MOCA (also known as Clarivein) to treat the underlying incompetent larger veins as a medical condition. We, then,
observe the progress of the undesirable visible veins for 1-2 months. For majority of our patients, there is a significant cosmetic improvement to the point that they no longer need to spend any out of pocket money to do further cosmetic Sclerotherapy.

For the minority who still would like us to do cosmetic therapy, the extend of veins needing treatment would certainly be less.
Hence, it would be significantly easier and cheaper to treat. On the occasion that particular individuals have large varicosities or extensive spider/reticular veins, we can inject the veins and treat them with Sclerotherapy.

During treatment, a mild chemical solution is injected into the incompetent vein or capillary. The sclerosing agent irritates the walls of the vessel, causing it to collapse. The body then reabsorbs the vein and blood is re-routed to a healthy vein, restoring proper venous circulation in the area.

What to Expect During Treatment:

A single sclerotherapy treatment session involves multiple injections in order to collapse the spider veins in one area. Patients used to describe the injections as feeling like a pinprick or mosquito bite, but now our treatment is painless as we have recently introduced a cooling element that cools the skin and numbs it at the injection site during the treatment. The number of treatment sessions required varies from patient to patient, depending on the number of veins treated, ability to heal, and the level of cosmetic perfection desired.

Post Treatment:

Following injections, compression stocking needs to be worn for three days to help keep the vein closed. Normal daily activities can commence immediately after treatment.

Although cosmetic end results may vary depending on how you heal, overall improvement close to perfection and total satisfaction is the norm.
