Treat Leg Heaviness & Leg Fatigue

If you are experiencing repetitive leg heaviness or leg fatigue, it is possible that you have a more serious underlying condition such as venous insufficiency (or venous reflux). Dr. Sassan Kaveh can treat symptoms related to heavy legs in Las Vegas and can diagnose and treat your heavy leg or leg fatigue problems.

Heavy Legs and Leg Fatigue

Heavy legs and/or leg fatigue are the feeling that the legs are difficult to lift or to stand for prolonged periods of time. They are also difficult to move, making it painful or uncomfortable to walk. Heaviness of the legs or leg fatigue can be acute (short acting) or chronic (long term). For patients that have dealt with this symptom for a long time, it is important to see a leg heaviness doctor that can examine your legs and discuss your symptoms with you.

What causes heavy legs or leg fatigue?

Understanding the cause requires a thorough understanding of patient history, what brings the symptoms on, what improves them, and what other symptoms are associated with it. The acute causes usually relate to muscle straining and over use or exercise, but could also be an indication of an underlying vein disease.

Recurrent or chronic leg fatigue is commonly a symptom of venous reflux (or venous insufficiency) which is a progressive medical condition in which the valves that allow the blood to travel from the legs to the heart no longer function. This can cause blood to pool in the legs and veins to swell. The incorrect blood flow (or reflux) causes the blood to seep into the tissues and cause fatigue in legs. This particular cause of leg fatigue is most interesting because it is very common but not well understood and, hence, missed by most medical providers.

Other associated symptoms of Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) are leg swelling (edema), leg cramps (charley horses), restless legs (antsy legs), enlarged veins (varicose veins, spider veins, and reticular veins) and leg skin discolorations.

Treatment for leg heaviness & leg fatigue

Treatment of Chronic Venous Insufficiency has come a long ways. Newer, in-office, minor procedures have replaced the old fashion surgical stripping of the veins. Consequently, there is minimum pain or downtime with the treatment. Here at Alpha Vein Clinic we offer a few different techniques to treat your leg heaviness and leg fatigue. The three main methods we like to use areRadio Frequency Ablation“, “The VenaSeal” and “ClariVein Occlusion”.

Radio-frequency ablation uses a highly specialized catheter to be inserted into the vein in order to cauterize the bad vein and close it off forever. Accordingly, the better and healthier veins will take over. By improving the blood circulation again, most, if not all, of the symptoms of muscle fatigue, pain, swelling and varicose veins will go away. The VenaSeal™ closure system is the only non-tumescent, non-thermal, non-sclerosant procedure that uses a proprietary medical adhesive delivered endovenously to close the vein. Clarivein however uses a combination of chemical and mechanical rotation to shut off the vein.

Is vein treatment covered by my insurance?

Treatment of venous insufficiency resulting in pain and suffering is a medical condition treatment of which is recognized by most insurance companies. Therefore, almost all non-HMO insurance companies cover the cost of the treatment.

Here at Alpha Vein Clinic we accept most insurance plans and are a preferred center for Sierra Insurance products.

Currently, all patients who have straight MedicareUnited Health Care, Aetna, BCBS as their primary insurance can enjoy the benefits of treatment using the ClariVein Ablation vein treatment. We are now accepting VA patients with an approved referral. Increasingly more and more insurances are covering this new technique.
