Varicose Vein Doctor Las Vegas
Alpha Vein Clinic is the leading varicose vein center in Las Vegas treating conditions related to Chronic Venous Insufficiency. If you’re looking for varicose vein treatment, or spider vein treatment in Las Vegas, we welcome you to our practice.
What causes varicose veins?
Unlike the arteries, the veins in our legs depend on the muscles to return the blood, against gravity, back to the heart. To help this process, the veins have a series of valves in them that prevent blood from flowing backwards. If these valves get damaged and leak, the blood has trouble moving upward. As a result, the blood back-flows in the veins and their side branches causing engorgement. These swollen veins can form spider veins, reticular, or varicose veins.
What are varicose vein symptoms?
Varicose veins in your legs are enlarged and may look blue or twisted. You may have no other symptoms, or you may have:
- Swelling in the legs, ankles, or feet
- Leg cramps or charley horses
- General aching or pain in the legs where the veins are swollen
- Feeling of heaviness in legs, or leg muscles that tire easily
- Itching of the legs near the veins (lichen simplex chronicus)
- Leg skin discoloration or sores on your skin, especially near the ankles
- Leg ulcers or open sores on the legs
As varicose veins aren’t always visible, sometimes vein disease can progress without one even suspecting it.
How do varicose veins occur?
Factors that may contribute to varicose veins include genetics/hereditary conditions, pregnancy, excess weight, prolonged standing on the feet, immobility of the feet, and lack of exercise.
How are they diagnosed?
We will first get a thorough history by asking the patient questions, and then examining their legs for visible signs or problems. The confirmation of the diagnosis requires a specialized ultrasound of your legs that we perform in-house, at Alpha Vein Clinic.
How are varicose veins treated?
Since the valves in the legs cannot be repaired, the only alternative is to re-route blood flow from the diseased veins to healthy veins. Traditionally, this has been done by surgically removing (stripping) the troublesome vein from your leg. Radio Frequency Ablation, ClariVein Ablation, or VenaSeal treatments provide a less invasive alternative to vein stripping by simply closing the diseased vein. Once the diseased vein is closed, it becomes scar tissue and is eventually absorbed by the body.
Radio Frequency Ablation uses a highly specialized catheter to be inserted into the vein in order to cauterize the bad vein and close it off for ever. Accordingly, the better and healthier veins will take over. The VenaSeal™ closure system is the only non-tumescent, non-thermal, non-sclerosant procedure that uses a proprietary medical adhesive delivered endovenously to close the vein. ClariVein however uses a combination of chemical and mechanical rotation to shut off the vein.
Is varicose vein treatment covered by insurance?
Treatment of venous insufficiency resulting in pain and suffering is a medical condition treatment of which is recognized by most insurance companies. Therefore, almost all non-HMO insurance companies cover the cost of the treatment.
Here at Alpha Vein Clinic we accept most insurance plans and are a preferred center for Sierra Insurance products.
Currently, all patients who have straight Medicare, United Health Care, Aetna, BCBS as their primary insurance can enjoy the benefits of treatment using the ClariVein Ablation vein treatment. We are now accepting VA patients with an approved referral. Increasingly more and more insurances are covering this new technique.
