The Road to Recovery

You may be nervous to seek treatment for your varicose veins. Medical procedures can be overwhelming, we understand. However, we are here to ease your concerns. Modern day vein treatments are minimally invasive and nearly painless. You may alsobe wary of treatment because of questions such as, “When will I be able to go back to work after my procedure?” or “Will I have to stay off my feet for weeks following mytreatment?” Alpha Vein Clinic has the answers you are looking for.

Treatment of veins

Varicose vein treatment will rid you of your unwanted veins and silence the symptoms that come with vein disease. In the last ten years, vein treatment has taken leaps and bounds to become the simple practice it is today. There has never been a better time to take care of your varicose veins. Radiofrequency ablation and ClariVein are the treatment options offered at Alpha Vein Clinic. Both of which have excellent results and are covered by most medical health insurance plans.

After Treatment

In the days following treatment it is recommended that you begin a daily 15 minute walking routine, to assist blood flow. However, typically waiting a week to engage in any strenuous exercise like running or weightlifting, is advised. Avoid standing for long periods of time. This is due to the vein’s healing process. Straining force can cause the treated vein(s) to reopen. Avoid long flights for the first two months and flights longer than three hours should be postponed for the first four weeks. You will be required to wear compression stockings for two weeks post procedure to optimize the healing process. You will also have a series of followup appointments for venous ultrasounds to monitor the progression of the recovery and to watch for potential complications.

Typically patients will experience little bruising, minimal pain and swelling after treatment. You can return to work approximately a day or two after the procedure. Some numbness can remain anywhere from a few days to up to six months. Reddening of the skin due to inflammation can begin in the first week, or weeks after treatment and usually lasts around 10 days. A tight sensation and/or a pulling feeling in the treated leg is normal. If the vein was near the skin, some skin discoloration can occur that will fade with time. These procedures are highly effective. In our experience, there is rarely any recurrence of venous reflux or any of the symptoms in the treated veins
